CardAccess 450 is designed for both big and small system applications. Simply load the software and connect the PC to Continental's SmartermŽ, a stand alone 4 reader capacity intelligent interface module, and you're in business. CardAccess 450 can also be used to upgrade Continental's CardAccess, 125, 150 and 300 PC systems as the software allows for communication with those system's Terminal Processors.

A multi-tasking, multi-user system with true distributed processing.

In larger applications, CardAccess 450 allows multi-tasking to perform literally hundreds of tasks simultaneously. CardAccess 450 is also a multi-user program which allows multiple operators to simultaneously perform any Access Control security or environmental control function from as many as three consoles for maximum effectiveness and flexibility, Utilizing initial programming from the host computer, each Smarterm works independently at or near the door. This distributed processing configuration, ensures quicker access and continuous system operation.

Select any of six approaches to cardholder identification.

• Proximity card reading allows cardholders to unlock doors up to 24 inches away. This unique system ensures that a cardholder will never have to reach for a card, thus greatly reducing the number of lost or stolen cards. The system's "hidden" cardreader also eliminates vandalism which is common in more conventional card reading systems. Because the reader may be concealed almost anywhere within a concrete wall, the system is weather-resistive and aesthetically appealing.
• Infrared card encoding utilizes the most technologically advanced approach to "conventional" access control card security. The reliability of IR reading is unsurpassed in the industry. (For use with terminal processors only.)
• Magnetic Stripe encoding, similar to commonly used bank credit cards, offers a cost advantage over other approaches to card encoding when high security in not the foremost concern.
• Bar Code is a low cost, high accuracy technology which allows you to print your own labels.
• Keypad further customizes your system, offering your own unique PIN number.
• Wiegand-effect card reading utilizes high security encoded cards with weather-resistant, maintenance-free readers.

To maintain system integrity:

• 65 operators with 32 user definable privilege levels which may be combined to define an operator's level of authority. These are configured and may be altered by management personnel.
• Printer provides record of all console operator transactions. Console operator log-on is also restricted by time zone.

To enhance the security of your facilities:

• Program which events and activities are printed or displayed at any of three programming locations.

• Track operators as to when they logged on and off, as well as which alerts were Acknowledged/Unacknowledged.
• Print cardholder information based on combination of data.
• Archive and retrieve card transactions and/or alarm transactions by an extensive list of parameters (i.e. time, location, etc.)

• Each of the time zones has a total of 18 time intervals plus a holiday schedule, which means that you can authorize entry to suit the most flexible employee work schedule.
• Alarm sensor inputs are provided per card reader (expandable). These monitor points may be programmed to activate one or more of the optional control relays in any part of the system, and may be used to automatically control building functions, alarm outputs, environmental control equipment or machinery.
